Is DMCRI is recognized in India?

DMCRI is affiliated to the Kathmandu University and is recognised by the Nepal Medical Council. This recognition automatically allows a student graduating out of DMCRI to be eligible to practice in a particular country provided the student has passed the qualifying medical examination of  the concerned country e.g. USMLE, ACT XVI , MCI qualifying examination, PLAB UK etc.

Currently Medical Council of India (MCI) regulations stipulates that all students studying MBBS programme from Medical Colleges outside India and wanting to practice in India after completion of their programme, need to appear for a "Screening Test".

May I get more information on screening test conducted by Medical Council of India?

1.       Screening test is an examination conducted by Medical Council of India. It is an eligibility test conducted by Medical Council of India for registration of successful candidates who pass the screening test. The test consists of three papers of multiple choice questions in Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical and Clinical Medicine and its allied subjects including Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

2.       The screening test is conducted in English. The test duration for each paper will be of three hours. Students have to obtain 50% marks in each paper separately in order to pass the eligibility test.

3.       The “Screening test” is conducted by the National Board of Education (NBE), New Delhi. This exam is conducted twice a year; on last Saturday / Sunday of September and on last Saturday / Sunday of  March.

4.       Once a student passes the “screening test” he/she needs to file their papers with the MCI, which will provide a Registration Number and one can now legally practice in India.

5.       A sincere student can pass the Screening Test in the 1st attempt. The Pass mark is 50%.

6.       The test is a QUALIFYING test similar to class 12. It is NOT an ELIMINATION test such as IIT, where only the top 2-3000 students get admission, irrespective of the marks. Here all that one has to do is to get 50% and one can pass the screening test.

7.       Students should NOT be worried of the screening test if they have studied in class.

8.       Study material & coaching is available for screening test if needed. DMCRI has also begun the practice of coaching students to enable them prepare for the screening test.
